SNU Professor Seung-Woo Seo was elected as the next president of the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers(IEIE).
IEIE held a regular meeting on the 26th at the Songdo Convensia and announced that Professor Seo was elected as the 52nd president. His one-year term starts on January 1st, 2022.
Professor Seo is Korea’s authority in the field of autonomous vehicles. He graduated from Seoul National University’s Department of Electrical Engineering (Bachelor’s and Master’s) and obtained his Ph.D. in engineering at Pennsylvania State University in the U.S. After serving as an assistant professor at the same university and as a researcher at Princeton University, he has been a professor at SNU since 1996.
Professor Seo founded the Intelligent Vehicle IT Research Center and is leading Korea’s research in unmanned autonomous driving. He has also served in key positions in the field of autonomous driving including the director of the LG Electronics Smart Car Research Center in SNU and the director of Mando Innovation Lab in SNU.
