  • Introduction
  • The CATS(Center for Advanced Transceiver System) is sponsored by the MOTIE(Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy) from 2000 to 2010 under the next-generation research program. The ultimate goal of this program is to develop a VLSI technology essential in multifunctional/micro transceiver for the next generation communication system, SoC technology, MEMS technology, and system integration technology. CATS has realized WLAN transceiver system compatible to IEEE 802.11a standard and developed a Transceiver On Chip that supports IEEE 802.11a WLAN/ 802.16e WMAN dual mode/broadband standard and a filter fabricated with RFIC and MEMS technology. Currently, CATS is striving forward to design a mobile transceiver system architecture and system integration for 4th generation mobile transceiver RF core technology WiMAX(IEE 802.16e)/WLAN(IEEE 802.11n) that also supports dual mode/broadband standards.
