Seminar Title: Security IC Design & Secure Interface (NFC) for IoT Era

Seminar Abstract:
  The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a hot topic of conversation as well as technology. As is common when things “connect”, security concerns rise to the surface. In this lecture, an overview of the recent security issues will be presented and a hardware/software approaches will be discussed. Also, this lecture will include recent hacking issues against security countermeasures.
  As a secure interface, NFC(Near Field Communication) technology has widely adopted for mobile payment such as Samsung Pay and Apple Pay. The secure NFC technology will also be introduced and application trend will be reviewed.

  Dr. Byeong-Hoon Lee is a Principal Engineer of System LSI Business, Samsung Electronics. He joined Samsung in 1998, prior to that he was a graduate student at Seoul National University where he received his Ph.D, MS and BS degrees in electrical engineering in 1998, 1993 and 1991, respectively.
  His first job was to develop the NOR Flash Memory which is widely used in mobile equipment for storing its program code. His responsibility was electronic circuit design. After his first three years, he transferred to System LSI division with a desire to challenge the new area, security business. There, he successfully launched many security products including the world’s first flash based smart card chip and NFC chip.
