▶ ABSTRACT
MEMS/NEMS have been widely used and enabled many innovative technologies across various disciplines. In this talk, recent developments of MEMS-enabled tunable photonic crystals at UTD such as “mechanically tunable photonic crystal” and “thermo-optically tunable photonic crystal” in which tunings are enabled by MEMS actuators and localized heating will be presented. In addition, biomedical implantable devices developed at UTD including a fully-integrated wireless micro neurostimulator for chronic pain management, microneedle-based painless transdermal glucose sensor, and implantable microcontainers for cell transplantation application will be briefly introduced.
