제목: Maskless Lithography for Display Applications
Recently printed electronics received a lot of attention and hypes from consumer electronic industry with a hope of extremely low cost disposable electronics on paper, but not a significant application has been realized yet. There are many technical obstacles to overcome to meet requirements needed for actual commercially viable applications. One potential area for this concept is display application, which does not require small feature size, very manufacturing cost sensitive, and no tight registration accuracy required. Kodak has been developing maskless lithography; material and processes, for display and medical (direct radiography) applications using laser patterning and other digital patterning methods. Kodak is developing maskless lithographic patterning technology using a high power laser system, Kodak proprietary material and processes for TFT backplane fabrication. An overview of this effort and some early results will be discussed.
Dr. Seung Ho Baek received the BS, MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Seoul National University in 1967, 1972 and from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978, respectively. Since 1981, he has been working for Kodak. He developed Kodak’s Direct Color Proofing System, Approval TM and received 1999 Eastman Innovation Award for that. He is currently a project leader of maskless lithography and digital patterning at Platform Technology Program, Display Science and Technology Center, Kodak Research Labs in New York. He has 36 US patents and was inducted to a member of Eastman Kodak Distinguished Inventors’ Gallery in 2000. He received the Johann Gutenberg Prize for pioneering work and outstanding technical achievement in printing technology from SID in 2000. He was the winner of 1987 C.E.K. Mees Awards for Excellence (highest honor) and acted as a member of Eastman Kodak Research and Science Council from 1991 to 1993.
